Especially with the recent cuts and growing crisis, we need another approach to mental health care to augment what is already in place. I have one. It is really as simple as someone being there, something that would have helped me greatly through my own 50-year journey.
Gentler Insanities Anonymous (GInA) is a very simple idea. Based upon the 12-Step programs, it will be a place for people to meet, talk, connect, be educated, and really just have someone else there saying, “you are not alone.”
Soon, I’ll be starting Kickstarter and GoFundMe campaigns to establish it as a legal nonprofit and launch a pilot program in the Philadelphia area. I’ll be looking for about $7,000 to get the website revamped, work with a lawyer to get the nonprofit status, and publish the books and collateral materials for the program.
Yes, I have tried reaching out to the other established nonprofits but have been ignored.
Who am I? The complete me, authentic and vulnerable, can be found in the two books I already published. Purchasing them would help. I have highly functional, medication resistant depression, along with PTSD and Anxiety Disorder.
Do I have the ability to launch this? My resume is in my profile and includes establishing and launching a professional nonprofit that has now gone international. I have been a leader and educator in my profession for over 35 years. I will, however, be seeking help from mental health professionals and educators to make sure my message and information is on point.
